Want to hear what it’s really like to be coached by me?

—a triathlete and nutrition coaching client who built strength and improved nutrition by changing one habit per month.

meet Julia
Before

In spring 2021, Julia was struggling to lose weight gained during the pandemic—which was unusual, since she’s a triathlete who loves to swim, bike, and exercise. As a super active person, Julia had previously fueled herself with high-quality food and a balanced diet so she could have the energy to do all the things she wanted. But like many, she was stuck at home for months and turned to food for comfort and to fight off boredom. In particular, she noticed she was drinking alcohol more often and eating more sweets.

Her goals

In the past, Julia had leaned on crash diets to lose weight quickly. This time, she wanted to build new habits that would lead to sustained results. Julia came to me wanting a diet-free life and a better relationship with food.

But, one thing was an issue: patience. Julia told me it was hard for her to stay the course without seeing results right away. We needed to break her out of the “instant gratification” cycle of crash dieting, so she could have the time and space to make these lifestyle changes intentionally.

During

“Small and simple” was our motto for our first two months together. To start, we focused on one habit per month. For example, Julia began including breakfast to start her day off with a filling, metabolism-boosting meal. Julia also moved her dinner to an earlier hour, giving her time to fully digest before bed and wake up hungry for a nutritious breakfast.

Julia began feeling better, but wasn’t seeing results yet. At her follow-up session, we discussed how confident she was feeling with the nutritional changes she’d made. With a few successes in the bag, Julia felt ready to add another change: strength training.

That’s where we really started to see progress. At the six month mark of nutrition coaching, Julia was beaming with excitement as she told me that she’d lost ten pounds and felt like herself again. As exciting as that was, I was more excited to hear that she’d accomplished two unassisted pull-ups! That’s a major win for anybody, and the fact that Julia had achieved it with her intentional, long-term changes showed that we were on the right track. With consistency, Julia could accomplish way more than she’d originally expected of herself.

Now

To keep her accountable to the great habits she’s developed, Julia continues to see me every six weeks. Outside of our check-ins, Julia has upped her protein intake to account for her twice-weekly strength training sessions. She’s also identified when and what sweets she’ll have during the week and reduced her alcohol consumption.

Are those the kind of results you’re ready for?

FAQ

You’ve got questions—I’ve got answers.

Where do you coach?

I offer online coaching and classes. Stay tuned for my online platform!

Do you do virtual personal training?

Yes, I do! Reach out to me to get started.

Do you offer pre/post natal coaching?

Yes, I do! In fact, I have my Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist Certification with Core Exercise Solutions (which is a fancy way of saying I’m certified to work with women before, during, and after their pregnancies). I’m an expert at what exercises are and are not recommended for pregnant women, and I’m a pro at modifying whatever we need to, in order to ensure your safety and comfort.

And yes, you absolutely can (and should) continue working out during your pregnancy (as long as you’ve cleared it with your doctor first). Being strong during your pregnancy can result in an easier delivery, and one of my clients told me that her doctors and nurses said everything went so well “because of how strong and in shape I was.” YES, mama!

What can I expect from my first personal training session?

Our first session together will set the baseline for what’s to come. I’ll want to see how you move and if you have any injuries or movement dysfunctions we should address. I’ll focus on learning about you as a person, what coaching style you like, and what goals you have for our sessions. Think of it as the first building block of our coaching relationships.

Is your nutrition coaching online or in-person?

All virtual! Our first consultation will be on Zoom, so we can get to know each other better and I can learn your likes, dislikes, and goals. After that, we’ll have weekly check-ins to talk about how you’re feeling and whether anything needs adjusting.

What can I expect from my first nutrition coaching session?

We’ll talk about everything—your current health, how you eat right now, and your likes and dislikes. We’ll also do a quick history of your eating habits and what has and hasn’t worked in the past. The goal is to give me all the information I need so that I can create guidelines that a) meet your health goals, and b) have you eating things you actually enjoy.

Are your workshops online or in-person?

Both! I can offer in-person workshops in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, and I can offer virtual workshops via Zoom as well.

working out and strength training gives me the opportunity to take time to be in touch with what I'm feeling in my body and use that as a guide for where I'm at physically and emotionally."
