I’m so lucky to have parents who see health as a high priority. My dad is a chef and has a tremendous passion for food. Growing up, he was always on the move—unless he was practicing his morning tai chi. My mother taught me the skill of balance. I remember she’d pair a morning treat with her coffee, and then follow it up with a little protein to give her body what it needed.

My family taught me how to prioritize food, movement, and moderation. Today, I realize how many people didn’t have those same role models to teach them how to eat and move for longevity. I don’t take it for granted. 

But my health journey wasn’t totally linear.

After studying international business in college, I followed the herd and found a corporate job. Soon, I was living in a state of high stress and had let my lifelong health habits slip. In a moment of clarity, I realized that this job was just highlighting my weaknesses—not acknowledging my strengths. As much as I appreciated the experience, I thought, there’s got to be a better way to live. 

With that lightbulb moment in hand, I set out on a path to learn as much as I could about moving well, eating for nutrition and joy, and helping others put the pieces together too.  

With certifications in strength and conditioning, kettlebell training, nutrition, and pre- and post-natal, I serve a wide range of clients. On a daily basis, I coach people who are facing that same moment of realization that I faced a few years ago—and I help them find ways to feel better. I’m five years into this career and I love it just as much as when I first started. 

Our health histories may start in childhood, but that doesn’t mean they’re set in stone. The choices you make today will impact your future in five, ten, or twenty years.

And like anyone else, my health journey begins with my childhood.
